In case of Leap, it is possible to start the update process. But as Ludwig wrote, wxWidgets is known by backward compatibility ignorance (changing API, changing number of arguments etc.). It often requires recompilation or even porting. A comparison of API would be needed before approving a version update. In case the new API is 100% backward compatible: Update can be approved. In case the new API is not 100% backward compatible: It will break other programs, and we have to postpone it to Leap 15.2. In such case, it is possible to update wxWidgets in its repository and make an aggregate to your project. I guess it is too late to update for 15.1 master. As the upstream guarantees ABI compatibility this time, we can try the update. I propose to install version 3.0.4 from X11:wxWidgets and test hugin, kicad, octave. If these will work, it would be safe to update.
