https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=721430 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=721430#c0 Summary: The tikz package included with texlive is so out of date it is not functional (since gnuplot changes in 2005) Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Factory Platform: All OS/Version: openSUSE 11.4 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: dav1dblunk3tt@hotmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:7.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/7.0 The tikz package included with texlive is so out of date it is not functional (since gnuplot changes in 2005). tikz uses gnuplot to produce graphs. The interface gnuplot uses changed in 2005. The current tikz works but the one included in opensuse is so out of date it doesn't without a hack. The fix is _very_ simple: line 288 of /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/pgf/modules/pgfmoduleplot.code.tex needs to have the word "terminal" removed and it should then look like this: \xdef\pgf@gnuplot@head#1{set table; set output "#1.table"; set format "%.5f"} I realise that there can't be a whole lot of people using this for it to remain unreported for 6 years and that the bug ownership is probably upstream with texlive but it took a long time to understand and fix this for me. An update would be great! More information here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/texlive-base/+bug/671008 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: See report above - the gnuplot interface has changes and tikz is out of date by 6 years! Actual Results: See above (the figures fail to build with "missing table" errors) Expected Results: The figures should build without error -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
