From openSUSE-12.3-DVD-Build0024-i586.iso I excluded all the files like: virtualbox-guest*. The installation was succesful. After this I made some changes using yast2 in order to have an IP address allocated by dhcp and I enabled sshd. I copied using winscp the files like virtualbox-guest*, I installed them (virtualbox-guest-kmp-desktop-4.2.6_k3.7.6_1.2-3.1.7.i586.rpm installation was not succesful), then I made an update using yast2 (Software -- > on-line). Then I made a reboot. After reboot, in the boot phase I can see the message: Failed to start LSB: Starts the xinet daemon. Be aware ...inetd software. See "system status xinetd.d service for details". The system does not boot anymore and crashes in this phase. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Actual Results: The system does not boot anymore -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

If it does not, I don't think that this is a bug of openSUSE itself... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The installation was successful (skipping virtualbox-guest), I used yast, I updated the software, I enabled sshd, I made several reboots, just to check that everything is OK after reboot. I'm sure that the bug does not occur without virtualbox-guest* files. Then I installed: virtualbox-guest-kmp-default-4.2.6_k3.7.6_1.2-3.1.7.i586.rpm and I rebooted. OK. Then virtualbox-guest-tools-4.2.6-3.1.7.i586.rpm and virtualbox-guest-x11-4.2.6-3.1.7.i586.rpm (one after one. Reboot. The system does not boot anymore (I can see the yellow line, no other message). A few time ago I installed in the same environment OpenSuse 12.2 and other older versions without problems. Without desired rpm installed there are some limitations: a very small window, even to navigate to a site you to have to drag with mouse to see the whole page, some programs (like Network Manager Manager) cannot be used because you cannot access some button, are under the area you can control. I reinstalled again. Then rpm -i virtualbox-guest-kmp-default-4.2.6_k3.7.6_1.2-3.1.7.i586.rpm. Then reboot. OK. Then virtualbox-guest-tools-4.2.6-3.1.7.i586.rpm. Reboot. I can see a message like TSC calibration failed. Message: "FAILED. Failed to start Postfix Mail transport Agent. See systemctl status postfix.service for details". The system does not boot anymore. I don't know if is a bug of the OpenSuse itself. Should I open a ticket to Virtual Box ? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The Vbox is much better, window is larger, programs can be used, almost perfect. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

On the 15th of March 2013 VirtualBox released the version VirtualBox-4.2.10-84105-Win. In the Release Note, on fixed bugs I found the text "• Linux hosts / guests: Linux 3.9-rc0 compile fixes (bug #11529". I upgraded my VirtualBox to this version and then I installed the package virtualbox-guest-tools-4.2.6-3.1.7.i586.rpm and then I made a reboot of the machine. Now it working fine. Some features which did not work before this package, now are working fine. For example to expand the window allocated to this virtual machine. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=806416 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=806416#c6 --- Comment #6 from Mircea Mucha <mircea.mucha@siemens.com> 2013-03-17 01:53:55 UTC --- I downloaded and installed from scratch OpenSuse 12.3. The installation was successful. This ticket can be closed. (fixed due to VirtualBox-4.2.10-84105-Win). As Jiri Srain assumed it was not a problem of OpenSuse 12.3 itself. I would like to write some comments regarding the download. These comments are not related with this ticket. The download was automatic was done via the site opensuse.blidoo.mk (Republic of Macedonia). The download took place during 6 hours (175kbs) and this low speed does not depend on the local internet provider. Anyway this is better because the previous downloads (via ftp.ines.ro)have been not possible, each time they crashed. Previous I downloaded from internet sites from Hungary or Germany (on better speed than this: about 500kbs). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
