https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=651256 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=651256#c0 Summary: kernel panic in ahci on Dell Precision WorkStation T3500 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Factory Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: bwiedemann@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Development Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=398555) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=398555) serial console log with backtrace When booting up a Dell Precision WorkStation T3500 with current Factory KDE-LiveCD-Build0837 from USB it panics early in the boot process. Tested this because openSUSE-11.3 (linux-2.6.34) had an ahci driver that was loaded, but did not provide access to the disk while SLES11-SP1 (linux-2.6.32) worked fine... device is identified as vendor: 8086 ("Intel Corporation"), device: 2822 ("82801 SATA RAID Controller") -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The fix is in 2.6.37-rc1 which will get into 11.4. For 11.3 a workaround is known and I don't think we want the patches to be backported. They are too intrusive. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The fix is in 2.6.37-rc1 which will get into 11.4.
Sorry, I can't count. The basesystem codefreeze already passed, so 11.4 will be based likely on 2.6.36. So we need to backport that. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
