https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=680599 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=680599#c0 Summary: openSUSE-11.4 LIVE images for USB will not boot (both GNOME and KDE) Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Final Platform: All OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Live Medium AssignedTo: coolo@novell.com ReportedBy: rallcorn@uucpnet.org QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:2.0b12) Gecko/20110222 Firefox/4.0b12 I've tried from two very different systems, both running openSUSE-11.4 and downloaded the very latest from the website ... but: the LIVE images for USB drive usage, both GNOME and KDE, will not boot! My son's Netbook was just set up with openSUSE-11.3 and working great, but he wanted the very latest, like "Daddy" ... now, his Netbook (Acer AspireONE) is dead in the water, waiting for a working USB "LIVE" image download that boots. -rAllcorn- Richard A. Allcorn email: richallcorn@ITNetworking.info Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.download the latest image 2.dump it down to the memory stick (with dd_rescue) 3.try and boot on it Actual Results: it won't boot! -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Kernel logging enabled on: /dev/tty1 Preparing preinit phase Failed to copy iprocs code rebootException: error consoles at Alt-F3/F4 rebootException: reboot in 120 sec Hope you can fix these issues and release updated images. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Indeed it does wait 2 minutes reboots and repeats. Fujitsu Lifebook A6025 .. when it rains it pores - I burned the live CD to do a rescue on the system just to be hit by this. This may be useful info: the Fedora live CD boots fine, though in the most recent version of the Fedora live CD one can not do an MBR repair in any many that is apparent .. * again. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
