Heh, virtual address as a PTE. Some piece of crap overwrites random memory, I would say. Could you install kernel-debug and pass slub_debug on command-line? BTW. how much memory is in the machine? From the addresses it is more than 12G. Maybe, but shouldnt crash the kernel right ? not from userspace at least ;)
Could you install kernel-debug and pass slub_debug on command-line?
If I see it again, I will, it is random, the first time it panic'ed the whole system the next (second) time is what I posted here, but happends according to the phase of moon :|
BTW. how much memory is in the machine?
It has 12GB RAM. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The thing is that some kernel code overwrites kernel's and CPU's data. Then when some arbitrary process tries to read the data, it finds only mess there. You have no possibilty to workaround or check it.

You might catalyze it by a program at: http://lkml.org/lkml/2008/4/24/439 which I used to catch an "overwriter" in the past. Just tune 1000000000 to be ~ your free ram. (In reply to comment #5)

After I replaced XFS for ext4, I was still getting strange behaviour, it finally went away, and has been running without a single oops/crash/freeze for 1 week, when I added journal on a different ext4 partition, which was built with tune2fs -O ^has_journal...
