[Bug 338589] New: cross platform yast2-product-creator
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=338589 Summary: cross platform yast2-product-creator Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: 64bit OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: bart@geesink.org QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- I would be nice to be able to make cross platform cd's with yast2-product-creator. What happens now is this: I am on a 64 bit system, and I use the i386 KDE CD as a basis for a new product. When I selected all the packages, and it is going to create the iso image directory, I get this warning: File ./boot/rescue not found on media: So I guess that yast2-product-creator passes the wrong arguments to y2mkiso. I can do it on the commandline though, when I have created the repository and don't let yast2-product-creator make an iso for me I can copy the contents of /boot/i386 from the original CD to the repository I just created. /docu is also omitted for some reason, so I copied that one as well then: /usr/lib/YaST2/bin/y2mkiso path/to/repo /path/to/iso/.iso i386 will do the trick. Would be nice to have it in yast2-product-creator itself though! -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The main problem is that the package selector uses the current architecture. The result is that non-compatible packages are ignored (not displayed). In this case you case can see i586 packages because they can be used on x86_64, but the other way round it doesn't work (x86_64 packages cannot be installed on an i386, so you would see only noarch packages). This enhancement requires quite a lot of changes in the internal structure of the module, resolving as LATER. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

In addition to this the product creator automatically offers to change the architecture if the selected repository is not compatible with the machine architecture. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
