http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=931149 Bug ID: 931149 Summary: Since some updates Dolphin lost the 'copy into' functionality when copy a folder to same name folder Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: 13.2 Hardware: x86-64 OS: openSUSE 13.2 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Applications Assignee: kde-maintainers@suse.de Reporter: kiv@mail.orbitel.bg QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Past year wnen I copy a folder let say 'TestFolder' to some other place where same folder exist I got followin options: 1. Skip 2. Change the name 3. Copy into Plus a check box 'Apply to all' This allowsd me to check the option 'Copy into'. Then dialog again shows a form where again shows the same if under my top folder 'TestFolder' there is anoder folder already available in the destignation place. Using this one can update some information in the destignation folder making Dolphin to copy in the folders only the files and folders not already available in the target place. Unfortunately after some updates the third option 'Copy into' get missing. Because of this I must change the name of my 'TestFolder' in order to make possible to copy it to the target place. So I can not copy the only new files available in my source folder 'TestFolder' but must copy all of it. I can not understood how this get so. May be because of some change of kdelibs, or may be by upgrade of the Dlphin or may be some interference may occure with the KDE5? Especially for me and my colleagues this 'Copy into' option was the most importand functionality of Dolphin. So now all our workflouw is distroied now because we must copy a lot of information for backups twice and we waste a hudge time for it. My current wersion of Dolhin is 14.12.3 KDE Development Platform 4.14.3 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Unfortunately after some updates the third option 'Copy into' get missing.
I still have that option here on a current openSUSE 13.2 system.
I can not understood how this get so. May be because of some change of kdelibs, or may be by upgrade of the Dlphin or may be some interference may occure with the KDE5?
Unlikely. I have "KDE5" installed as well. It should have absolutely no influence on the KDE4-based dolphin.
My current wersion of Dolhin is 14.12.3 KDE Development Platform 4.14.3
Really? Then your system is not fully up-to-date and you have a mixture of versions (which can lead to strange problems). The current "KDE Development Platform" version is 4.14.6 (which was part of the 14.12.3 release). So please fully update your system, and verify that you have version 4.14.6 of all kdelibs4 subpackages, i.e. kdelibs4, kdelibs4-core, libkde4, libkde4-core. Then restart KDE (logout/login or reboot) and report back whether you can still reproduce the problem afterwards. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=931149 --- Comment #2 from Krasimir Ivanov <kiv@mail.orbitel.bg> --- Dear Mr Bauer, It is nice that every thing there in your computer is OK. But here in my computer unfortunately it is as I wrote already. Your prompt answer gives me a hint, thank you about it. All computers I was writing about have been done same way and use same software. Also I use some software from the unstable repositories because I need it and it is not available from the stable distribution. Now I am thinking that may be some thing wrong is made during the installation of the additional software or the updates. I am going try to reinstall all packages from Yast and then will try to update if some thing needs to be updated additionally. If Dolphin will start to behave same way as needed, I will inform here. Thank you again for your prompt answer. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=931149 --- Comment #3 from Krasimir Ivanov <kiv@mail.orbitel.bg> --- Dear All, Please close this my bug report. Finally I found out this problem has nothing to do with a software bug. After reinstalling all packages from Yast and removing the VideoLan repository I have got back the reported as missing functionality. (I am not sure if this VideoLan repository has any connection with the case. In the openSUSE forum I found recommendation from some user to not allow it in Yast. So I removed it.) Thank you very much to Wolfgang Bauer because he helped me where to search for solution! Sorry for disturbing you for nothing. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Thanks for reporting back.

I don't really think that it's connected, but I cannot tell for sure. Anyway, just a hint: you should never mix the VideoLAN repo with Packman. Both contain the same multimedia libs in different versions, mixing them will give problems. If you use Packman, there's no need for the VideoLAN repo anyway, as Packman contains the same things, and more (VLC is even the exact same package, it's maintained by openSUSE anyway, both VideoLAN and Packman just link to that and build it with full codec support). The only package missing on Packman is libdvdcss2, but that's available from its own repo too (contained in YaST's "Community Repositories" list).
Sorry for disturbing you for nothing. No problem, nice to hear that the problem is fixed for you...
Closing as suggested now. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
