[Bug 227664] New: A-Link WL54H wlan pci-card not properly configured during installation
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=227664 Summary: A-Link WL54H wlan pci-card not properly configured during installation Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: RC 1 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: kylmakorpi@kolumbus.fi QAContact: jsrain@novell.com During installation the card is recognized as CNet CWP-854 Wireless-G PCI-adapter. Module rt2500-pci is loaded for the card but it's not working. Compiling the module from external source, rmmod rt2500-pci + modprobe rt2500 wakes the card up. Version 10.1 doesn't recognize the card at all (which might be less troublesome situation). https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=227664 ------- Comment #11 from kylmakorpi@kolumbus.fi 2006-12-19 13:13 MST ------- Sorry for late comment, been away a couple of days. Yes, I have tried a fresh 10.2 installation (the earlier was RC1) and unfortunately just the same bugs I reported earlier. I tried abt all tricks with module rt2500pci including manual configuration with iwconfig, but with no success. I got the card working with: - removed all installation configurations with Yast - compiled the module from an old rt2500-cvs-2006100807 which I happened to have around - loaded rt2500 with rmmod - configured it with iwconfig - finished the configuration with Yast => wlan card working. The card seems to be recognizing rt2500pci (it wakes up, or at least led's in the back of the card do) but even when setting all the parameters correctly with iwconfig the card doesn't work with 10.2 included rt2500pci. But shipping the legacy driver is no solution either, as it's not SMP safe (and we do not have UP kernels anymore). I hope situation regarding Ralink improves soon. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
