My notebook has no floppy, too. 2. It does not seem to depend on "boot from mbr". I just wanted to install 11.2 Milestone 7 in parallel to my existing 11.1 installation. Thus, I only wanted to put grub into "/" (a primary partition) and let the old grub chainload it. The most disturbing thing was that I could not cancel or close the prompt for a floppy. However, I let YaST write its floppy and there was no error! 3. I ended up with a textual but working grub. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

There was no prompt for a floppy and the grub menu is now graphically. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I hope that this part of code will be deleted in openSUSE 11.3 To Jan Ritzerfeld in comment#1: ------------------------------- YaST tries to propose bootable configuration each time. If you can install GRUB only to partition you have to change it in yast2-bootloader manually. Please don't forget that there is also options "Write Generic Boot Code to MBR" It is in frame where is also located checkbox "Set Active Boot Flag..." But it will not boot after reboot and you have to manually add chainloader section to your old menu.lst from other installation. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
