If I'm reading this right, this is a bug in the 2.6.21 and newer kernels that was initially reported on LKML by Frank Hale [1]. It was debugged and fixed by Cal Peake and Andi Kleen a few days later [2], with the patch being applied to 2.6.23-rc3 [3]. Elsewhere and I noticed the issue on our laptops [4], as have other suseforums.net members [5] with dual-core AMD processors. I have tested the patch on my machine (a Compaq F572US laptop with an nVidia MPC51 chipset) and it works flawlessly. I recommend the patch be backported to 2.6.22 kernels for OpenSUSE's 10.3 final release, so we don't leave some of the new laptop users out in the cold. ~~ Andrew Dorney, aka andrewd18 andrewd18@gmail.com [1] http://lkml.org/lkml/2007/7/29/218 [2] http://lkml.org/lkml/2007/8/7/544 [3] http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.6/testing/ChangeLog-2.6.23-rc3 [4] http://www.suseforums.net/index.php?showtopic=37663&st=20# [5] http://www.suseforums.net/index.php?showtopic=38129# -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
