(haven`t tried for some time) first off, wdm seems to access /dev/mem at a position, which is not allowed anymore for security reason - must be http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commit;h=... manpage tells: DisplayManager.randomFile A file to checksum to generate the seed of authorization keys. This should be a file that changes frequently. The default is /dev/mem. Setting DisplayManager*randomFile: in /etc/X11/wdm/wdm-config to something different (like /dev/urandom or largefile) doesn`t seem to help - still no success to start wdm. xdm.errors shows this message: Release Date: 10 October 2008 X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0 Build Operating System: openSUSE SUSE LINUX Current Operating System: Linux netsim 2.6.27.5-2-default #1 SMP 2008-11-11 15: 15:33 +0100 i686 Build Date: 08 November 2008 07:58:58PM Before reporting problems, check http://wiki.x.org to make sure that you have the latest version.
