[Bug 753897] New: Samsung SCX-4200 prints blank pages from Firefox and Okular when image is more than just text using Splix driver
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=753897 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=753897#c0 Summary: Samsung SCX-4200 prints blank pages from Firefox and Okular when image is more than just text using Splix driver Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Printing AssignedTo: jsmeix@suse.com ReportedBy: jdmulloy@gmail.com QAContact: jsmeix@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/535.11 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/17.0.963.79 Safari/535.11 My mother is a preschool teacher and I have openSUSE on her laptop. She often needs to print pages with images from Firefox to use for her class. With 11.4 some web pages started printing with some stuff missing, or showing up as just a few scattered dots. With 12.1 the printer is now printing blank pages. In 11.4 I was able to work around the issue by printing from Firefox to a PDF and printing the PDF from Okular. Now that doesn't even work. It's printing blank pages from both Firefox and Okular for the URL in the reproduction steps. I have the same problem on my desktop which is running a fresh install of 12.1. I tried the same page in 11.4 in a VM and it printed faded. I tried 11.3 in a VM and it printed perfectly from Firefox. I even upgraded Firefox using the RPM from 11.4 to see if that was the issue. There hasn't been a Splix for a few years so the last 3 versions of openSUSE have the exact same version of Splix, 2.0.0. The CUPS test page works fine. I also have no problem printing my resume which is obviously just a text document from LibreOffice or Okular. I tried running Firefox as root to see if it was a permissions issue, and it still printed a blank page. I've tried fiddling with settings like the toner saver. I tried Ubuntu 11.10 and Fedora 16 in a VM and they are able to print from Firefox without any issue. Ubuntu 11.10 is has cups 1.5.0, just like openSUSE 12.1, but who knows what patches they've applied to cups and/or Splix, although I checked their Splix patches and there didn't appear to be any code changes. I do however think they enable JBIG, but I haven't confirmed it yet. I looked at the CUPS log, but I couldn't find anything useful. My printer is connected to an Iomega iconnect, which is an embedded ARM system running CUPS 1.3. To rule out the print server I attached it directly to my laptop and I had the exact same behaviour. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open http://www.makinglearningfun.com/t.asp?b=m&t=http://www.makinglearningfun.com/Activities/Rainforest/MorphoButterfly-Coloring.gif 2. Print it Actual Results: Printer spits out a blank page. Expected Results: Printer prints page with content on it. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Please report whether or not it works with Ghostscript 9.05.
Works fine with vanilla ghostscript 9.05 from the Printing repo. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
