Which HW platform is this? There are different IA64 machines around and they differ considerably in design. OK, here is what we will do: I will supply you with an Xserver that logs all PIO accesses during BIOS calls. You will have to run it until you get a clean start. From this log I will retrieve a list of addresses and 'whitelist' it. I will then be able to catch any access to non white listed registers.
