[Bug 225056] New: Redirection to mirror which doesn't carry updates for architecture
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=225056 Summary: Redirection to mirror which doesn't carry updates for architecture Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: RC 1 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Update Problems AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: volker3204@paradise.net.nz QAContact: jsrain@novell.com AMD64 install, after "registering" this vmware virtual machine with Novell, Novell answers with http://ftp.kddilabs.jp/Linux/packages/SuSE/suse/update/10.2/ as mirror to use for updates. This always fails as this particular mirror doesn't have AMD64 updates as there is no rpm/x86_64/ directory. Problem 1: this sends users down a dead end. Untrained users wouldn't know they have to register again to have a chance to fix this automatically (or enter an update source manually). Problem 2: within a short time, Novell deliberately returns the same mirror to the same user, with good reason (to keep update sources consistent). There is no telling yast "this mirror is no good, fetch me the next one please". -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

I hope this was correct. Eric: please have a look if I have correctly deactivated http://ftp.kddilabs.jp/Linux/packages/SuSE/suse/update/ . -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=225056 ------- Comment #3 from elayton@novell.com 2006-12-01 08:50 MST ------- Yes this is correct. Doing this deactivated it for 10.1 as well (which it also doesn't have any x84_64 sources for). BTW, there is a periodic process that checks for the validity and partial content of mirrors, but it doesn't check to make sure all architectures are present, so it missed this one. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
