https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=812887 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=812887#c0 Summary: openSUSE 12.1 XEN kernel disables interface because too many frags Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.1 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: tuukka.pasanen@ilmi.fi QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:19.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/19.0 Hello, I've updated openSUSE 12.2 XEN kernel to server and after that all openSUSE 12.1 XEN DomU are having this problem when using NFS with default settings [568311.215524] vif18.0: Too many frags [568311.223256] vif18.0: fatal error; disabling device So after this line no more net because interdace is disabled. I don't know if this case in GIT http://kernel.opensuse.org/cgit/kernel/commit /?id=a2eac99bc02764cc2aa9480366db727c380b7924 But it relates discussion here: http://lists.xen.org/archives/html/xen-devel/2013-03/msg00404.html Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Create server with openSUSE 12.2 and create openSUSE 12.1 DomU. Then start then and try to use NFS after short while it'll disables your interface. Actual Results: Interface eth0 is not functional and won't come back without rebooting DomU. Dom0 will have these lines in [568311.215524] vif18.0: Too many frags [568311.223256] vif18.0: fatal error; disabling device dmesg Expected Results: Interface eth0 is not functional and won't come back without rebooting DomU. Dom0 will have these lines in [568311.215524] vif18.0: Too many frags [568311.223256] vif18.0: fatal error; disabling device dmesg This only happens openSUSE 12.1. I can't get this happening with openSUSE 12.2 or 12.3. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Going to try the newer kernel right now.
Newer kernel didn't help us. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Sorry, 12.1 is not supported any more. If you can reproduce with 12.2 or newer, reopen. This happens on OpenSuSE 12.3 for us as well. While we haven't been able to reproduce it on demand, it happens daily to one of our domUs. Once the interface has been disabled, the domU must be fully shutdown such that the vifs are removed. Likewise disabling tso, sg, and gso don't help.
The bug has been addressed by Redhat: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=924249. Any chance of getting these patches backported to kernel-xen-3.7.10-1.11.1.x86_64? Incidentally, we've tried installing kernel-xen-3.11.0-1.1.g712cff0.x86_64.rpm on our HP Proliant DL360-G8 but dom0 became non-responsive overnight. Then we tried kernel-xen-3.11.2-1.1.g4c1fc5a.x86_64.rpm, but that kernel failed during boot. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
