[Bug 462281] New: Guest vlan tagging doesn't work for Sles10
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=462281 Summary: Guest vlan tagging doesn't work for Sles10 Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: x86 OS/Version: SLES 10 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jsun@vmware.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Third Party Developer/Partner In the Guest VLAN tagging environment, the netperf/iperf traffic pass through fine only when tcpdump is running. Without tcpdump, the following error will be generated: # usr/local/Netperf/netperf -H 10.115.175.124 -p 5001 netperf: recoeve_response: no repsonse received. errno 0 counter 0 Steps to repro the problem: -loaded ixgbe-1.3.31.5 driver for the Oplin on SLES 10 -used vconfig to create a vlan on the Oplin (eth3) and assigned the vlan interface (eth3.13) a static IP -pinged into the vlan interface (eth3.13) from outside, OK here -started netserver on SLES 10 -started netperf from remote into SLES 10, netperf timed out after about a minute or less -started tcpdump on the Oplin (eth3) interface -retried netperf from remote, this time it works -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Does this problem involve vmware in any way? Also please provide more accurate info for future bug submissions. To this end: please: - update product to correct value, i.e SLES10_SPx - update hardware to something more specific than x86, i.e i686, x86_64 - please add kernel version to description. We tested it on native SLES10 SP2 back in Dec. last year. Right now, the versions for OS I'm using are: (Both of 32 bit and 64 bit) sles10-64-071:/home/vmware # uname -a Linux sles10-64-071 2.6.16.60-0.21-smp #1 SMP Tue May 6 12:41:02 UTC 2008 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux sles10-32-fpt-071:/home/vmware # uname -a Linux sles10-32-fpt-071 2.6.16.60-0.21-smp #1 SMP Tue May 6 12:41:02 UTC 2008 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux It happens on driver ixgbe and also bnx2x. Please let me know if you need other information. Thanks, Jing -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
