[Bug 434563] New: Incorrect media check scan result
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=434563 Summary: Incorrect media check scan result Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Beta 2 Platform: i686 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Live Medium AssignedTo: coolo@novell.com ReportedBy: stilo_vingyou@hotmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Other I downloaded openSUSE 11.1 KDE 4 Beta 2 Live CD. After downloading the torrent from http://software.opensuse.org/developer , I ran checksum of the iso. The result showed that the downloaded iso's md5sum was same to that found here of KDE4 Live CD-i386. http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/11.1-Beta2/iso/cd/MD5SUMS But when I ran "mediacheck" from the grub menu of openSUSE 11.1 KDE4 Beta 2 Live CD, it gave me the following result: app: GENISOIMAGE ISO 9660/HFS FILESYSTEM CREATOR (c) 1993 E.YOUNGDALE (C) 1997-2006 J media: CD1 size: 714756 kB pad: 0 kB check: 99% err: sector 357236 check: md5sum wrong md5 :f90f2065f032ae35539f08d9cc39ad71 -----> Press any key for reboot: I used "winMD5Sum" recommended by Ubuntu https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM and "HashCalc" recommended by Fedora for checking md5sum. http://docs.fedoraproject.org/readme-burning-isos/en_US/sn-validating-files.... I tried to use "md5deep" by openSUSE http://en.opensuse.org/Download_Help#Burn_the_ISO_Image.28s.29 but I couldn't make the .exe file of "md5deep" execute on Windows since it opened command prompt and did nothing else. I doubt it's the fault of the app "GENISOIMAGE" since it appears to be outdated from the "(c) 1997-2006 J" copyright notice. If the app is not outdated, shouldn't the copyright notice state "(c) 1997-2008 J" instead of "2006"?....Just a wild guess;) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Marcus, please always create media with some padding (150k is the default, I think). Or if you did, don't forget to tell tagmedia (tagmedia --pad 150). The kernel is known to have problems reading the last blocks of CDs. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
