I did find the workaround of downloading and reinstalling the oss version: ftp://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/distribution/11.0/repo/oss/suse/x86_64/kdiff3-0.9.92-172.1.x86_64.rpm The post-install script (or whatever does it) did it's job and nicely restored KDiff3 to my konqueror context menu. If we can just fix the linking of KDE3 files to the KDE4 runtime, or at least warn about the packages where it is done, I think a lot of the problems like this will go away. I immediately knew with I manually started kdiff3 and saw that interface that something wasn't right. There isn't anything more frustrating than updating something in KDE3 and have KDE4 starring you in the face. Don't get me wrong, when I did the beta testing of KDE4 on 11.1, I liked some of what I saw in KDE4. One they get its functionality on par with KDE3, I'm ready to make the change. However, even simple things like using quanta with fish to update a web site are still broken in kde4.2. Thanks you for your help. I don't know how you change the link on KDE:Backports to point to the old version like it should, but it is really needed. After that, let me know and I'll try and update kdiff3 again and see if it's fixed. Right now everything with KDE3 in 11.0 and 11.1 seems to be working great. I am really sad to see the end of KDE3. Other than little nits like today, I can just work, and work, and work and not worry about black-screening or having to write bug reports every day. The traditional KDE menu allows access to all packages without having to scroll to find what you need. I can add/remove entire "menus" to kicker without problems, in konqueror you can do everything you need without reverting to arcane [CTRL]+[ALT]+[SHIFT]+command key combinations, I can update my web site from quanta via fish with a click of a button, etc...
