https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=417851 User eike.welk@post.rwth-aachen.de added comment https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=417851#c417492 Summary: System repair tool can sometimes not repair LVM based system Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: eike.welk@post.rwth-aachen.de QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- When the system repair tool is started from the boot menu of the installation DVD ("Repair Installed System"), it can not repair a LVM based system. When the repair tool is started from the inside the installer however, it can repair the system. This bug report is for the openSuse 11.0 x86_64 installation DVD which was created from the feely downloadable *.iso file. I had a freshly installed openSuse on my hard disk (with LVM for the root partition), which could not boot (see Bug #417492). Therefore I inserted the installation DVD again and chose "Repair Installed System" from the boot menu. The repair tool however could not repair the system and instead claimed that there was no operating system installed. So I rebooted once more and chose "Installation" this time. Inside the installer there is an other option to repair an already installed system. This repair program, which looks identical to the first repair program, could repair my LVM based system. Bug #402654 is maybe related.
