https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=777988 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=777988#c0 Summary: Updated NVidia loses resolution options Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.1 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: X11 3rd Party Driver AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: suseROCKS@bryen.com QAContact: sndirsch@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=503973) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=503973) xorg.conf file User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:14.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/14.0.1 A recent update from sndirsch repository of Nvidia drivers loses all resolution options except 1920x1200. Prior to update, my 12.1 was set since release to 1280x Upon reboot Tuesday morning, the system changed to 1920x1200 resolution making it very difficult for my low-vision to read the computer screen. A subsequent update existed on Wednesday, but the problem remained. Going to Nvidia-settings GUI, I see only two options now. Auto and 1920x1200. Prior to that, there was a long list of resolution options. My computer is an HP Touchsmart screen running with nvidia card. I am attaching xorg.conf and xrander text files for review. I'm told by others that this is indeed a bug. I'd like to roll back to previous state, but do not know how. Nvidia software installed per zypper se nvidia: nvidia-computeG02 - 304.43-20.1 nvidia-gfxG02-kmp-default - 304.43_k3.1.0_1.2-19.1 nvidia-gfxG02-kmp-desktop - 304.43_k3.1.0_1.2-19.1 nvidia-settings (Packman) - 270.41.06-1.57 nvidia-testure-tools (12.1 OSS Repository) - 2.0.6-13.1.2 x11-video-nvidiaG02 - 304.43-20.1 All software comes from obs://build.suse.de/home:sndirsch:drivers except where noted in the list above) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.zypper dup 2.Accept updates 3.Lose resolutions Actual Results: Lost my established screen resolution. Expected Results: Should not have lost my preferred screen resolution. This is severely impacting my work as I cannot see things clearly anymore with my low vision. 1280x resolution was optimal for my vision. Please give this some attention so I can get back to my work. So, I'd like to get an answer to my previous comment question. Do you need me to stay on 12.1 a bit longer to help with any further troubleshooting or may I have your blessing to move on to 12.2?
This question is unrelated to the NVIDIA driver behaviour. I'm afraid you need to decide yourself. Closing as fixed, since there is a solution for your problem. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
