[Bug 1073433] New: startup pop sound with power-save enabled in snd_hda_intel
http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1073433 Bug ID: 1073433 Summary: startup pop sound with power-save enabled in snd_hda_intel Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel Assignee: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: glin@suse.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 753590 --> http://bugzilla.suse.com/attachment.cgi?id=753590&action=edit alsa-info kernel version: 4.14.4-1-default Since some kernel update, I started to hear the "pop" sound when I played anything with audio, e.g. youtube, amarok, etc. The pop sound only happened in the very beginning of the audio. If I pause the audio and play it immediately, there is no pop sound. However, if the audio is paused for a while, then the pop sound can be heard during the next play. I searched through the web and found someone said that disabling power save could stop the pop sound, and it worked for me. I don't know it started from which kernel version, but I remember it used to work around a half year ago. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

- Do you hear any pop after stopping, i.e. at the auto-suspend, too? No, there is no pop after stopping.
- Does the pop noise appear even if you mute the output(s)? No pop after muting Master. By the way, if I play the audio when Master is muted, there is no pop noise after unmuting.
- Which output jack are you listening to? I connected my headphone to the Line-Out jack on the back of the machine.
- Disabling "Loopback Mixing" mixer switch has any influence? I tested a few times (wait 15 seconds -> play the music), and the pop noise was gone after disabling "Loopback Mixing".
