[Bug 276897] New: Add a "scan for devices" function to bluetooth-applet
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=276897 Summary: Add a "scan for devices" function to bluetooth-applet Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Alpha 4 Platform: x86 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: casualprogrammer@yahoo.com QAContact: qa@suse.de After setting up Bluetooth the umpteenth time, it occurs to me, that a scan function as well as bonding function is missing from the applet. The notebook can be found by other devices and they can initiate bonding, but, to my knowledge this can not be initiated from the applet. I can do a hcitool scan from a terminal to find other devices, this should be possible from the GUI as well. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Programmer <casualprogrammer@yahoo.com> 2008-03-05 01:13:07 MST --- Yes, surprisingly it is :-), only I didn't realize, since its called "Browse Device" which I mistook for browsing already bonded devices. In fact it scans for available devices and should probably named accordingly. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I'm closing this as fixed. Programmer <casualprogrammer@yahoo.com> 2008-03-05 01:43:05 MST --- I don't really care either, the question is what people expect to find. As far as I know the official lingo for bluetooth searching for other devices is "scan". While "browse" usually refers to searching the found devices content. Not going to fight with you over this. :-) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
