I tried clearing ~/.ooo-2 . But no luck. The problem still persists. So, is this because of a problem in any other dependant module, that I can downgrade ? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Does the solution at the bottom of http://forums.opensuse.org/hardware/392589-strange-xcb-bug.html help?
No. It didn't help. `sax2 -r -m 0=fglrx` hung my machine. I had to power-off. Is there any other solution or work around ? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I uninstalled all the rpm that had an ati in it. I uninstalled the fglrx driver. On next restart, X did not start and I manually sax2 -ed it and made it work. But, I strongly believe that my father cannot do any of this on his own. And, open-office and firefox are the only applications that he will want to use. So, I believe this bug should remain critical. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I believe it's a dupe to bug 252510, did you try exporting LIBXCB_ALLOW_SLOPPY_LOCK=1 (note that OOo does not use xcb directly, this is most probably caused by libxinerama)? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I did not export anything as it is not documented anywhere and not told even when I asked in #go-oo and #opensuse-gnome irc channels. So, this is probably a hidden, unknown work-around. But sadly, none of the other applications I use, have this problem. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Is there any chance you could restore the previous state (when the assertion happens), as I would need more information on what exactly is causing this (still suspecting a general xorg issue)? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

As programs with this error typically trigger it several times, each warning is printed only once. (Bug #251087) I remember a similar bug (maybe even identical) reported only some weeks ago. After removing the leftover (libGL.so.1 and more) of an old manual fglrx driver installation the issue disappeared. I bet it's the same here. --> Closing as WORKSFORME. If you can reproduce it again after installing the official fglrx driver RPMs from the ATI server, please reopen. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Now my openoffice is not launching again. My home internet connection is too weak to download the official ATI driver download. I will do that tommorrow in a better network. Meanwhile, if you want to take any debug logs, please reply me so that I can take them. If you want to access my machine, it is also fine. I exported LIBXCB_ALLOW_SLOPPY_LOCK=1 .
