[Bug 417913] New: Suspend to disk freeze immediately after start
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=417913 Summary: Suspend to disk freeze immediately after start Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: leandro.gelasi@tiscali.it QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Created an attachment (id=233795) --> (https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=233795) pm-suspend.log First of all, my hardware: Fujitsu-Siemens Life Book S6410 4 GB RAM 8 GB swap space (/dev/sda8) Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03) dual booting with XP using KDE 3.5.9 Suspend to disk doesn't work: when launched it starts the hibernate screen but freeze immediately after (with a low hardware beep) I tried to disable the splash screen (splash=n in /etc/suspend.conf) and it seems that s2disk freezes immediately after starting to save the memory on the swap partition. I have to manually shutdown the notebook. When it reboots, it skip GRUB menu and go forward to boot SuSE, but (obviusly) with the standard kdm login screen. I tried to update the kernel (using kernel-default-2.6.27-rc3.3.1 from SuSE build service) and to get the latest suspend packages (suspend-0.80.20080612-6.1) with no result. s2ram works fine. Can you help me? I completely reinstalled OpenSuSE (i386 version) and now I have 4 Gbyte swap area. Well, the commands you gave me actually hibernate the PC, without shutting down it (electrically, I mean). The PC stops (correctly) with "System halted". Hard rebooted the notebook restart correctly with the last memory snapshot.
This is not the expected result, however, because after 'echo test > /sys/power/disk' the kernel is not supposed to create a hibernation image and it should return to the shell instead. Probably the debug mode is off in these kernels. Can you please send the output of 'cat /sys/power/disk' after writing 'test' to it? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
