[Bug 788008] New: coredump on s2disk since openSUSE 12.2 / Acer Aspire ONE 150
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=788008 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=788008#c0 Summary: coredump on s2disk since openSUSE 12.2 / Acer Aspire ONE 150 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: dieter.jurzitza@t-online.de QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=511846) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=511846) The relevant part of the dmesg-output User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:16.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/16.0 After upgrading my AAOne recently I have to face the fact that the device - working as a charm on 11.4 - keeps producing coredumps when recovering from s2disk. Please find the corresponding dmesg-output attached. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. s2disk 2. restart 3. wait long, see crash Actual Results: When triggering s2disk it takes too long until the device falls asleep. On return I see the error messages from a kernel dump when triggering dmesg (see attachement). Since this did never happen before this is a regression on 12.2 Expected Results: Guess what :-) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=788008 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=788008#c1 --- Comment #1 from Dieter Jurzitza <dieter.jurzitza@t-online.de> 2012-12-29 10:07:30 UTC --- Probably this issue is related to splashy. Entering "splash=n" to /etc/suspend.conf makes the coredum disappear. What regards splashy I get the following error: In function splashy_video.c / line 1193 a value of -3 is returned, causing "in sum" the error message: Splashy ERROR: Couldn't splashy_start_splashy(), Error -3 to be printed. Building splashy with DDEBUG=1 as element of the CFLAGS causes the information as depicted in the attachement "splashydebug" to be printed. Some nice guy with deeper insight into splashy could probably help me to help myself find the bug .... 11.4 did not exhibit such issues .... Thank you in advance, take care Dieter Jurzitza -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=788008 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=788008#c3 --- Comment #3 from Dieter Jurzitza <dieter.jurzitza@t-online.de> 2012-12-30 18:00:32 UTC --- Further findings: reducing the size of the png-file to 1024x600 to exactly match the screensize does not impact the behaviour. Keep getting -3 as return value ... I added another debug - value to see whether or not the picture is found correctly, but this part is working, I get /usr/share/splashy/themes/aqua/aqua.png, as I configured it. By the way, the function CreateImageProvider() has a retval of 17, whereas the compared-to value DFB_OK is zero. According to directfb.h this means DFB_NOIMPL: No implementation for this interface or content type has been found. If this tells anything to anybody ... seems as if a functionality is requested that cannot be provided by the intel framebuffer driver? Thank you for looking into this. https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=788008 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=788008#c4 --- Comment #4 from Dieter Jurzitza <dieter.jurzitza@t-online.de> 2013-01-01 12:43:04 UTC --- New laptop - new test - same problem. Tested same thing on Acer Aspire One 721 - different graphics card, different processor, same software same behaviour: Splashy ERROR: Couldn't splashy_start_splashy(), Error -3 splashy is heavily broken and causes all kind of troubles with s2disk on openSUSE 12.2. System hangs on s2disk due to this. Please help me fix. The only solution is to modify /etc/suspend.conf in order to show "splash = n" This fixes the behaviour of s2disk, still leaving splashy broken.
