https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=209414 ------- Comment #4 from mboman@novell.com 2006-10-05 04:08 MST ------- The goal; Move all services that requires a network connection to /etc/NetworkManager/dispatcher.d (ie nfs, smb, ntp etc). This would help speeding up the boot time. In order for that to work, NM needs to be able to start the scripts in the correct order. The init process handles this by naming the scripts S01xxx, S02xxx, K01xxx, K02xxx etc. Basically, I'm proposing a way to start/stop scripts in a specific order. According to Bug#209358, this is the only way we can reach the goal. Let me know if you need more info. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

With regards to Comment#3, #209358 was closed as invalid because NM can not do what I am asking for here! How does that make THIS bug invalid??
It was closed as invalid because this design will not work, the problem of wrong odering of NM is only one of the few problems. Your reasoning and your proposed solution are wrong, letting this services be started by NM is the wrong approach. I wrote already the correct solution is to make all of this services NetworkManager aware like we did with ypbind. And starting all of this services everytime you dialin is much, much slower then to start them once during boot. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
