[Bug 348691] New: Dual sound card, onboard card only works randomly.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=348691 User 178155@glocalnet.net added comment https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=348691#c1 Summary: Dual sound card, onboard card only works randomly. Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Sound AssignedTo: tiwai@novell.com ReportedBy: 178155@glocalnet.net QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Customer I have an ASUS P4T-E motherboard with an on board AC97 sound device which until recently have been disabled in the BIOS. Instead I've had my speakers connected to an external Sound Blaster Value PCI card. The other day I started to use Skype for my first time and thought that I now could get some use of my disabled sound card using it for my skype headphones. So, I enabled the on board sound card in BIOS and eventually managed to configure Yast using two sound cards. Since the speakers still are connected to the external pci card I choosed that device as standard, device 0 and the on board card as device 1. Everything works fine until the computer is completely shut off and then started again, after boot the on board card is not found either by Kmix nor by Skype!? If I then restart the machine again without shutting it off completely (reboot) the on board card seems to be found most of the time. Also I found out that "rcalsasound restart" makes the on board card working again. lspci -v output when onboard card is working: 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation 82850 850 (Tehama) Chipset Host Bridge (M CH) (rev 02) Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc.
