[Bug 769666] New: Multiversioned kernels and broken /usr/src/linux link
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=769666 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=769666#c0 Summary: Multiversioned kernels and broken /usr/src/linux link Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: andrea.turrini@gmail.com QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=497143) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=497143) Y2logs; replaced actual IP address and removed too old files to reduce file size User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:14.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/14.0 In my system I have enabled the multiversion for the kernel. Currently I am using the kernel-desktop and related packages as provided by the official update repository. Since kernel 3.1.10-1.13.1 has been removed from the Update repo (due to https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=764864), after booting with the previous kernel 3.1.10-1.9-desktop, I have uninstalled kernel-desktop-3.1.10-1.13.1 as well as the corresponding kernel-devel, kernel-desktop-devel and kernel-source packages, using the command "zypper rm -u kernel-desktop-3.1.10-1.13.1 kernel-desktop-devel-3.1.10-1.13.1 kernel-devel-3.1.10-1.13.1 kernel-source-3.1.10-1.13.1". After the uninstall, I have noted that in /usr/src the "linux" link has not been changed, resulting to a broken link to the now missing linux-3.1.10-1.13 instead of the correct linux-3.1.10-1.9. /etc/zypp/zypp.conf contains: multiversion = provides:multiversion(kernel) multiversion.kernels = latest-2,latest-1,latest,running I am not sure whether this is a problem of the kernel package, as I suppose, of the libzypp management of multiversioned packages or of something else, so please fix the bug component. PS: as reference, I removed the kernel at 2012-06-29 07:15. We would need a post-uninstall script that finds a replacement target for the symlink. Patches are welcome :). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
