[Bug 977135] New: refresh_initrd: /sbin/mkinitrd: illegal option -- s
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=977135 Bug ID: 977135 Summary: refresh_initrd: /sbin/mkinitrd: illegal option -- s Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 13.1 Version: Final Hardware: Other OS: openSUSE 13.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other Assignee: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: erbenton@comcast.net QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- OpenSuse 13.1 Bottle and x86_64 system with kde - all latest updates installed. I had an issue crop up where my clock suddenly was way off but only the hours, the minutes were correct. In my research I modified /etc/sysconfig/clock to set the default timezone to my timezone (America/Los Angeles) as it was set to Eastern time. I then (as root) ran /sbin/refresh_initrd but got the following error: refresh_initrd: /sbin/mkinitrd: illegal option -- s so, whats happening? I did a man mkintrd and dont see a -s option and even still the cmd is wrong as it is just plain "s" instead of "-s" The relevant portion of refresh_initrd is: test $SPLASH = yes && set -- -s auto exec -a mkinitrd /sbin/mkinitrd ${1+"$@"} Where did the dash go in -s and why is -s there at all? also, what is "exec -a" the -a isnt in the man page but --help shows [-a name], name of what? # exec --help bash: exec: --: invalid option exec: usage: exec [-cl] [-a name] [command [arguments ...]] [redirection ...] -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
