[Bug 271573] New: Kernel panic in 2.6.18.8-0.3-xen
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=271573 Summary: Kernel panic in 2.6.18.8-0.3-xen Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Xen AssignedTo: cgriffin@novell.com ReportedBy: greg.riedesel@wwu.edu QAContact: qa@suse.de This appears to be identical to bug 254208 which was marked FIXED. The symptoms are similar, with the panic occuring just after agp-gart detection. Like bug 254208, the "defconfig.xen" file has the line "CONFIG_AGP_INTEL=y" in it. As with that bug, the use of the line "agp=off" on the kernel load-line is enough to work around the bug. If needed, I can get a serial console dump of the kernel panic. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

If so, why did you enter another bug (we'll mark it duplicate anyway then). If not, then please indicate whether (like in the other bug) you need a workaround in the native kernel, too, and provide native and Xen boot.msg. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=271573 ------- Comment #3 from greg.riedesel@wwu.edu 2007-06-15 09:36 MST ------- Yes, this is the same machine as the other bug. I made a new bug report as the earlier one had been marked fixed and didn't know if it was OK to re-open it or not. As for the standard kernel, I'll have to go do some tests when I get in to work. I have agp=off in my kernel load-line, and also have the offending module blacklisted. I'll take the blacklist out and try some reboots. I'll have that info for you in a couple hours. The boot.msg info will take a little longer. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

I removed agpgart from the /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist file, verified that grub didn't show 'agp=off' for the standard kernel and rebooted. No problems at all. I'll attach that boot.msg to the other bug. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
