[Bug 443222] New: YaST2 partitioning tool doesn' t handle Device Mapper targets successfully
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=443222 Summary: YaST2 partitioning tool doesn't handle Device Mapper targets successfully Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Factory Platform: i386 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: nfbrown@novell.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com CC: aschnell@novell.com Found By: Development If I use kpartx to read the partition table on a device and create dm devices for each partition, then the yast2 partitioning tool can see the dm devices, but cannot successfully make changes such as format for use by a filesystem, or mount somewhere. I am using this to try to manage partitions on an 'md' raid array. If I create an md array (say a raid5 called /dev/md4) and then I cfdisk -z /dev/md4 and create some partition. Then kpartx -a /dev/md4 it will create partition devices which can be seen as e.g. /dev/mapper/md4p1 /dev/mapper/md4p2 I then run the yast2 partitioner and it reports these devices as available in the "Device Mapper" section. If I select one and click "edit" I get a frame titled "Edit DM error". It seems to allow me to select a filesystem type under "Formatting Options", and to select a mount point under "Mounting Options". However when I then select "Finish" and am returned to the overview frame, there is no indication that anything has changed. The change appears to have been lost. I would particularly like this to be usable in the installer so that it would be possible to install on to a partition of an md array. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
