I tried to follow the instructions found at the link you provided but encountered some issues: 1 - After the GUI installer crash, the Ncurses UI is started, hence I tried to run save_y2logs command, but it was not available anywhere. 2 - Then I tried to save by hand the whole /var/log/ folder but after mounting a USB key from the console I discovered that commands such as cp, fsync and tar where not available as well. Investigating more I found that cp, fsync and tar were present in /bin and /usr/bin/ folders but as dangling links... I'll try to bring in those commands from a working box.
