If you track idle state events:
(out of mind, not copy and pasted)
cd /sys/kernel/debug/tracing
echo 1 >events/power/enable ;sleep 1; echo 0 >events/power/enable
cat trace

you see a lot power_end events (no corresponding start events) on AMD C-state
capable processors.

Same with intel if the acpi_idle driver is used.

If the intel_idle driver is used you see power_start events, but double
power_end events.

git commit f77cfe4ea21760268c0277fa3e4b02dfd2a2c2f4 fixes that issue, but needs
some other patches on top:
