[Bug 665153] New: No cpu idle (power_start/end) events thrown on latest AMD Hardware
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=665153 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=665153#c0 Summary: No cpu idle (power_start/end) events thrown on latest AMD Hardware Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Factory Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: trenn@novell.com ReportedBy: trenn@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de CC: boris.ostrovsky@amd.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- If you track idle state events: (out of mind, not copy and pasted) cd /sys/kernel/debug/tracing echo 1 >events/power/enable ;sleep 1; echo 0 >events/power/enable cat trace you see a lot power_end events (no corresponding start events) on AMD C-state capable processors. Same with intel if the acpi_idle driver is used. If the intel_idle driver is used you see power_start events, but double power_end events. git commit f77cfe4ea21760268c0277fa3e4b02dfd2a2c2f4 fixes that issue, but needs some other patches on top: 20c457b8587bee4644d998331d9e13be82e05b4c 25e41933b58777f2d020c3b0186b430ea004ec28 (61a0d49c33c7fd57c14895e5b0760bd02b65ac1f) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
