[Bug 349918] New: No X-Server on Intel 82830M graphic chip
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=349918 Summary: No X-Server on Intel 82830M graphic chip Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: sndirsch@novell.com ReportedBy: hibr-list@gmx.de QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: Customer Created an attachment (id=188323) --> (https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=188323) Xorg.0.log file On my Toshiba Satellite 1100 Notebook I tried the new OpenSuSE 10.3. The on board graphic card (chip) is a Intel 82830M for the 1024x768 LCD-notebook-display. If the X-Server tries to start the display shows the cross mouse pointer for a short time and then the display stays dark. After a while the display shows a pattern of colored horizontal and vertical lines. The pattern differed from try to try. I attached the Xorg.O.log for determination. I guess there is a problem with frequency. I suggest to switch back to i810 driver as it is already mentioned in our Release Notes. Please run sax2 -r -m 0=i810 and let me know, if this helps. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I got a unstable result. Weird, SuSE 10.2 works (Ubuntu 7.04 works too, 7.10 not). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I finally gave up about intel driver support for i830. We'll use i810 again for this old hardware, which is rather untested by Intel developers. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
