[Bug 248677] New: gnome-mime-data cannot be noarch
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=248677 Summary: gnome-mime-data cannot be noarch Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Alpha 1 Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: andreas.hanke@gmx-topmail.de QAContact: qa@suse.de gnome-mime-data is built as a noarch package, but this is not correct because the .pc.in file contains: prefix=@prefix@ exec_prefix=@exec_prefix@ libdir=@libdir@ includedir=@includedir@ @libdir@ becomes /usr/lib on i586, but /usr/lib64 on x86_64 => not noarch. The alternative is to convince upstream to remove these variables from the .pc file. They don't look useful to me because the package doesn't install anything into either @libdir@ nor @includedir@. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Hallo.
It seems, that gnome-vfs-2.17.91 contains hard dependency on discontinued gnome-mime-data. I see no reason for it. Does anybody know?
configure.in: PKG_CHECK_MODULES(... gnome-mime-data-2.0 ...)
Backwards compatibility. There are deprecated functions in gnome-vfs (which you wouldn't see with an all updated application base) which rely on gnome-mime-data. We won't be able to securely remove the dependency until we break backwards compatibility fully.
