https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=222762 ------- Comment #4 from christian.jaeger@rub.de 2006-11-27 03:19 MST ------- I have downloaded the updates for the openSUSE RC now. On the very first attempt of using the Nomad player with Banshee after the update a crash occured with a USB error like 'bad app keys'. Sadly, I wasn't running it in a console this time and couldn't reproduce that error, sorry. The second attempt went like this: Banshee showed the Nomad icon; upon highlighting it Banshee crashed. This is the console output: =================== A null value was found where an object instance was required. System.NullReferenceException: A null value was found where an object instance was required. at <>c__CompilerGenerated5.<>c__AnonymousMethod5 (object,System.EventArgs) <0x00099> at (wrapper delegate-invoke) System.MulticastDelegate.invoke_void_object_EventArgs (object,System.EventArgs) <0x00059> at InvokeCB.Invoke () <0x00022> at (wrapper delegate-invoke) System.MulticastDelegate.invoke_bool () <0x00048> at TimeoutProxy.Handler () <0x00045> at (wrapper native-to-managed) TimeoutProxy.Handler () <0x0005a> in (unmanaged) 0x2af664d6349a at (wrapper managed-to-native) Gtk.Application.gtk_main () <0x0000b> at Gtk.Application.Run () <0x00008> at Banshee.BansheeEntry.Startup (string[]) <0x00823> at (wrapper delegate-invoke) System.MulticastDelegate.invoke_void_string[] (string[]) <0x00059> at Banshee.Gui.CleanRoomStartup.Startup (Banshee.Gui.CleanRoomStartup/StartupInvocationHandler,string[]) <0x000eb> =================== Then Banshee automatically restarted, the 'docked' notification on the Nomad player showed briefly, then disappeared. Banshee now showed the Nomad and the tracks on the device. Exclamation marks were in front of the tracks in list. Banshee was frozen though froze. On the third try, I again experienced an automatic restart, the difference being that the app didn't freeze afterwards. I guessed the exclamation marks meant tracks still cannot be extracted from Nomad players and it really didn't work. So I tried dragging an MP3 from the library to the player and synchronised the manual transaction. Result: Banshee stalled while 'waiting for the transcoder' (though transcoding of course wouldn't be necessary for the file is an MP3). I had to kill the app manually. Output: =================== Unhandled Exception: System.NullReferenceException: A null value was found where an object instance was required. at <>c__CompilerGenerated5.<>c__AnonymousMethod5 (object,System.EventArgs) <0x00099> at (wrapper delegate-invoke) System.MulticastDelegate.invoke_void_object_EventArgs (object,System.EventArgs) <0x00059> at InvokeCB.Invoke () <0x00022> at (wrapper delegate-invoke) System.MulticastDelegate.invoke_bool () <0x00048> at TimeoutProxy.Handler () <0x00045> at (wrapper native-to-managed) TimeoutProxy.Handler () <0x0005a> in (unmanaged) 0x2af664d6349a at (wrapper managed-to-native) Gtk.Dialog.gtk_dialog_run (intptr) <0x0000b> at Gtk.Dialog.Run () <0x00034> at Banshee.Gui.CleanRoomStartup.Startup (Banshee.Gui.CleanRoomStartup/StartupInvocationHandler,string[]) <0x00152> at Banshee.BansheeEntry.Main (string[]) <0x00050> =================== Several attempts went just like that last one. On another attempt I got the same error I received the very first time, this time running in a console: "njb3-read-keys: bad status from Jukebox" The 'docked' notification on the Nomad should till unplugging it. Bug-reports for 11.0 kept me distracted while I'm moving to a different town... Anyway, I just plugged in the player and openSUSE 11.0 factory completely ignored it. :( -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Many (most?) NJB devices can be reflashed with MTP firmware. We intended to have Banshee show you a message telling you this, recommending you flash your device w/ newer firmware, but haven't added it yet. Thanks for all your work (for years!) on this Christian - sorry it never got fixed. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
