Are you sure? Akonadi doesn't start on my Factory installation (with KDE 4.10.90 with default settings; this already includes that commit), and the calendar does show holiday events.
I've just tried again with a test user, and kontact events are enabled, plus, holidays are shown with both events off and on. However, akonadi indeed does not start after disabling kontact events. Sloppy checking ;-)
Akonadi only gets started by the clock if "Show events" (which shows events from akonadi resources) is turned on, but that already was the case before.
Correct. But with openSUSE branding that setting *should* be off. This is due showEvents -> displayEvents, so it needs updating in our branding :-) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I just downloaded kdebase4-workspace-branding-openSUSE-13.1-258.3.x86_64.rpm from KDF and /usr/share/kde4/apps/plasma/layout-templates/org.kde.plasma-desktop.defaultPanel/contents/layout.js DOES contain: var clock = panel.addWidget("digital-clock") // avoid akonadi unless akonadi is started clock.writeConfig("displayEvents", "false") I tried this file on my 12.3 system with KDE 4.10.95 and "Show Kontact-Events" IS turned off for a new user. Akonadi does start on login though, but that must be caused by something else. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Akonadi does start on login though, but that must be caused by something else. Oops, sorry. Akonadi was still running for the other user. For the new test user it was NOT started on login.

As i don't have ("displayEvents", "false") in layout.js. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
