[Bug 405178] New: Can't get ICON 225 HDSPA key to work with NetworkManager
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=405178 Summary: Can't get ICON 225 HDSPA key to work with NetworkManager Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: vuntz@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- I bought the ICON 225 key: http://www.option.com/products/icon225.shtml There are a few issues with it -- I can open for each of them if it helps track the issues : + first, it seems that some commands need to be sent so that the modem actually appears. See http://www.pharscape.org/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,68/page,viewtopic... (I'll attach the GPL program that can be used for this, although it's a bit unreliable). Tambet told me that it used to be the case for another key, but it was somehow fixed in the kernel -- so maybe something can be done in the hso driver? + we're missing the right thing in /usr/share/hal/fdi/information/10freedesktop/10-modem.fdi. I've added this: <!-- ICON 225 --> <match key="@info.parent:usb.vendor_id" int="0x0af0"> <match key="@info.parent:usb.product_id" int="0x6971"> <match key="@info.parent:usb.interface.number" int="0"> <match key="@info.parent:usb.interface.class" int="0xff"> <match key="@info.parent:usb.interface.subclass" int="0xff"> <match key="@info.parent:usb.interface.protocol" int="0xff"> <append key="info.capabilities" type="strlist">modem</append> <append key="modem.command_sets" type="strlist">GSM-07.07</append> <append key="modem.command_sets" type="strlist">GSM-07.05</append> </match> </match> </match> </match> </match> </match> But now I see that we already have a section for products from Option (0x0af0). Note that I'm completely unsure if all the <match> tags are necessary :/ I just copied the Huawei 220 part since it worked. + now, the really problematic thing: I can't get it to work with NetworkManager. It just doesn't work. Here's what I have in the log: Jun 30 21:44:00 lyon NetworkManager: <info> Activation (ttyHS0) starting connection 'Orange' Jun 30 21:44:00 lyon NetworkManager: <info> (ttyHS0): device state change: 3 -> 4 Jun 30 21:44:00 lyon NetworkManager: <info> Activation (ttyHS0) Stage 1 of 5 (Device Prepare) scheduled... Jun 30 21:44:52 lyon NetworkManager: <debug> [1214855092.919514] nm_serial_device_close(): Closing device 'ttyHS0' However, I can get it to work with the connect.sh script from http://www.equinoxefr.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/icon225.tgz It could be that I should play with some settings in NM, but, well, I have no idea which ones :/ -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

allegedly this connect script works:
Looks like the same script I'm using (see the end of the first comment). It works okayish. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
