https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=763156 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=763156#c0 Summary: yast2 installed many language translations without being asked to Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Factory Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.2 Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: phani00@gmail.com QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Opera/9.80 (X11; Linux x86_64; U; en) Presto/2.10.229 Version/11.64 updating yast2 to ver. 2.23.0-1.1 yesteray (zypper up), i saw that yast wanted to update a whole lot of language translations that i never asked to be installed: yast2-trans-cs yast2-trans-da yast2-trans-de yast2-trans-en_GB yast2-trans-es yast2-trans-fr yast2-trans-hu yast2-trans-it yast2-trans-ja yast2-trans-pl yast2-trans-pt yast2-trans-pt_BR yast2-trans-ru yast2-trans-sv yast2-trans-zh_CN yast2-trans-zh_TW seeing this i removed all these (all except yast2-trans-en_US) without any dependency issues. but why were all these languages installed first of all? i'm certain i never requested this. isn't a big thing (> 40MB), but why the clutter -- or is this intended, to make sure yast2 is useable, even if the desired language hasn't been installed yet? Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1. upgraded from milestone 3 by switching to facotry repos, then "zypper dup"; 2. upgraded yast2 (zypper up) to ver. 2.23.0-1.1; 3. was surprised that all these language translations were going to be upgraded, too; Actual Results: yast2 tried to update all these languages, even though i never asked for them to be installed -- must have slipped my notice during the original installation of milestone 3 -- but no other packages have all these language translations, only yast. The initial installation of the unwanted yast2-trans-* packages is not covered by the logs, but I suspect it happened due to one of the meanwhile fixed bugs in language file handling.
