My situation is infinitely worse than yours, and happens with every pdf: when I press arrow down, it scrolls step by step, and when I release the key, I have to wait about 10 seconds and more scrolling to get the control back (for instance to close the file). I also tried to compile xpdf 3.03 from source, as well as freetype, to no avail...
