I'm presently using openSUSE 12.1 Milestone 1 (i586), VERSION = 12.1, CODENAME = Asparagus Gnome 3 runs in fallback mode with panels First reported at https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=652939, they told me to report here. The build in Factory currently fails with: No package 'libpanelapplet-2.0' found => Which is key here: gnome3 provides libpanelapplet-4.0. So either somebody picks up migrating this to gnome3 infra or the applet is very likely going to be dropped from 12.1 (we still have time for either of the solutions). Keeping the bug open for now...
