Run SuSEconfig and see what happens.
It does nothing to updmap. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The question is: Why this does not happen for your system? Could it be that your chroot environment is not fully initialized?
This is system I work on, not a chroot environment. Could you attach the original updmap with all maps commented? I will try to feed it through the scripts manually.
Please note it make no sence to enable maps if they do not exist as this leads to warnings and error messages.
I enabled only those which exist. It generates a correct output now. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Simply try as root
updmap-sys --disable cm.map touch /var/adm/SuSEconfig/run-texhash SuSEconfig -module texlive
to see if the script has done its work you may run
updmap --listavailablemaps | grep cm.map
This seems to work. cm.map gets enabled. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

In one of thoese file there should be the log for TeXLive packages.
Unfortunately in the January ones, there is nothing about texlive. The output of this is empty: bzgrep texlive /var/log/zypper.log* -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Then I have a problem: how should I reproduce this without knowing what exactly has happen here?
Me neither. Full reinstall works too now. I don't know what went wrong with that particular update. Closing as invalid. If it reappears, I will attach the log. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
