http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=618503 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=618503#c0 Summary: no CRT connected: Xserver crashes and no video signal on console Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Factory Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: bnc-team-xorg-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: koenig@linux.de QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- due to bug #618310 I was curious how my 11.3 test PC would behave with no VGA connected -- here are the results :-( boot to runlevel 3: no video signal after reconnecting the LCD boot to runlevel 5: Xserver crashes (sigsegv) and no video signal after reconnecting the LCD in bug #618310 the server was running a xen kernel, now I'm using the normal desktop kernel. the server uses a radeon chip, the PC a Nvidia Quadro4 580 XGL (NV18GL), so it looks like a pretty generic KMS problem ?! harald@a1:~> uname -a Linux a1 2.6.34-11-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT 2010-06-24 00:46:11 +0200 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux harald@a1:~> rpm -q kernel-desktop kernel-desktop-2.6.34-11.4.x86_64 from Xorg.0.log: [ 19.452] (II) UnloadModule: "vesa" [ 19.452] (II) Unloading /usr/lib64/xorg/modules/drivers/vesa_drv.so [ 19.452] Backtrace: [ 19.452] 0: /usr/bin/Xorg (xorg_backtrace+0x28) [0x46a338] [ 19.452] 1: /usr/bin/Xorg (0x400000+0x62189) [0x462189] [ 19.452] 2: /lib64/libc.so.6 (0x7fb7816fa000+0x32a60) [0x7fb78172ca60] [ 19.452] 3: /usr/bin/Xorg (xf86InitViewport+0x4b) [0x48275b] [ 19.452] 4: /usr/bin/Xorg (InitOutput+0xb76) [0x474886] [ 19.452] 5: /usr/bin/Xorg (0x400000+0x25d95) [0x425d95] [ 19.452] 6: /lib64/libc.so.6 (__libc_start_main+0xfd) [0x7fb781718b7d] [ 19.452] 7: /usr/bin/Xorg (0x400000+0x25af9) [0x425af9] [ 19.452] Segmentation fault at address 0x24 [ 19.452] Fatal server error: [ 19.452] Caught signal 11 (Segmentation fault). are there any user more tools available for KMS to re-trigger a monitor probe, or to specify/setup a fixed resolution and output port etc. ? or: is it possible to load some EDID data at boot time via kernel parameters, /proc/kms/edid or whatever ? thanks! -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Not that I'm aware of, but google for intel-gpu-tools. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
