Expected Results: The selected pattern files should be installed
This is not quite precise - if the pattern is selected for installation, only its required and recommended packages are selected for installation. If all of required and recommended ones are already installed, nothing in addition to them gets selected. But in that case, the pattern should be already marked as installed. (adding myself to Cc as this affect probably ncurses UI as well) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Absolutely agree with #2 - I was not expecting for all packages grouped under 32-bit run-time to be installed - What DOES concern me is that when I tick 32-bit runtime - NOTHING gets installed - It just runs suseconfig etc...and does NOT install 1 single new file from any repository. The same is true for any other subsequent selection of a Pattern Groups in Software Management - I expect you have discovered this for yourself already. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I don't know if that's good or bad. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Sure we could do something not to confuse users here. E.g.: - do not allow to set the pattern to to-be-installed state once the pattern is considered installed - provide a context menu options to install not-yet-installed required/recommended packages (one item for each) see also http://lists.opensuse.org/zypp-devel/2009-03/msg00070.html Not having this, users are left to select the missing packages manually from the pattern's contents list. That's a bit unlucky, patterns should provide exactly this. Ditto for zypper. c#5: IMO the confusion is allowing the user to change the status of the pattern from installed to to-be-installed (reinstalled), yet not select any new packages, or? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
