https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=250241 ------- Comment #2 from snwint@novell.com 2007-03-01 10:42 MST ------- IIRC I've seen something similar with sata_promise recently. If I'm not mistaken the disks were detected fine but vanished after sata_promise was loaded later (no sata disks attached to the promise controller). I'd have to re-check to be sure, though. In any case it would be a kernel bug. BTW, starting with the next previews the old ide drivers are deprecated and pata_* are preferred. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

This machine has no via chipset, /proc/ide/hda/* indicates that the harddisk is found, but /dev/hd* and /dev/sd* are not created. When I create the device by hand, it *can* be accessed. No ide_disk. As soon as I modprobe ide_disk, /sys/block/hda shows up, and /dev/hda* is populated. In fact the hardware detection implicitly loads them at install time. Just not ide-disk. I've added ide-disk there, too, so this bug is fixed. Still, ide-disk is the only module of this group with its own modalias entry (ide:m-disk) in sysfs, which looks rather bizarre to me. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
