On joining AD, if another client with the same hostname exists on the current network, its settings are overriden with the settings of the newly joined one, which is certainly not desirable. Hence, to minimize the probability of hostname collisions, hostname proposed by default contains 4 random characters. The needed degree of randomness could be hardly achieved if usernames (or any other 'vocabulary' words) were used instead. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
