I guess this might be due to the change from fvwm2 to icewm. When I run KDE4 all YaST windows are correctly placed, but with icewm on an installed system some YaST popups are misplaced. Michal, is there an icewm option that controls the window placement? On my machine using qt4 it behaves as you described. On a 10.3 machine with qt3 it works as expected (the main window can't hide the popup). Some of those dialogs are "main dialogs" that have a "dock window" as their (Qt) parent. That could be obtained with YDialog::widgetRep()->toplevelWidget().
