[Bug 812597] New: cannot use downloaded new GTK themes via Gnome-Tweak-Tool. attempting to prevents further windows opening
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=812597 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=812597#c0 Summary: cannot use downloaded new GTK themes via Gnome-Tweak-Tool. attempting to prevents further windows opening Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.3 Version: Final Platform: 64bit OS/Version: SUSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: daveandclaire75@gmail.com QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.31 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/26.0.1410.43 Safari/537.31 I have downloaded new GTK themes and placed them in the usr/share/themes folder. Examples would be Mediterraneannight or Cuppertino Gnome from www.gnome-look.org or Sonar, direct from the 12.3 repos I have confirmed that appropriate Theme engines EG Unico are installed. When I attempt to select the theme using Gnome Tweak Tool the following happens: There will only be a small number of themes available in the 'GTK+ Theme menu' Typically Adwaiti, High Contrast and Greybird - these all work okay. When I attempt to change the current theme - I have the above plus 12 other selections available. Occasionally (and I cannot confirm how or why) all 15 options appear in the 'GTK+ menu'. If I select one from this menu - sonar for example. The window crashes, and I am unable to open any further apps. This situation remains after re-boot. Appreciate any advise - I will gladly supply any further info. I am not a command line wizz but am happy to learn - if you need any outputs just 'step by step' and I will provide them. Thanks again. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install a GTK theme as described above (use Sonar from repos for ease) 2. Attempt to use it in via the GNome Tweak Took and select the theme from the 'GTK current' menu 3. The window should close and you be unable to open any further applications Actual Results: No further windows could be opened Expected Results: To be able to use the installed theme -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Thanks for your investigation. Yes the issue does occur if custom themes have been removed from /usr/share/themes. It seems mutter does not know to look in ~/.themes but this can't be expected behavior, can it? Let me know if I can provide any other assistance! I am running openSUSE Tumbleweed w/ GNOME 3.8.1, btw. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Well you need to install the user-themes extension if you want to load themes from your home directory, so if that doesn't exist (or is too old) I can see there being problems.... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

All of my extensions and packages are at the most current versions. I even did "sudo zypper -t package" to be sure. The GTK and Shell themes work fine out of /home directory, it seems to be only affecting mutter. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
